![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the big HOWARDFORUMS.COM users AMR topic AMR is an function enabeld only in rogers phones. We got some request from a user that asking about it. Anyway we found the variable, and AMR is now available for ALL W810 phones, for ANY firmware version.

![]() | This is a great development! Thanks Davinci! AMR changes the error correction between areas so the call is maintaned in weak areas... all w810s can have this feature enabled, but only Rogers locked phones had it before.. And now we can all have it with the new FW too, R4DB005 |

![]() | Here's a def'n by Paco of Hofo: AMR (Adaptive Multi-Rate) AMR is a speech coder standard introduced by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), a partnership project of various standards organizations, developed to preserve high speech quality under a wide range of transmission conditions. The theory behind AMR is to lower the codec rate as the interference increases, thus enabling the application of more error correction. The AMR codec is also used to harmonize the codec standards amongst different cellular systems. |

![]() | Hi simms, im new around here and i think you can help me. I have flashed my w810i with the latest firmware from davinci (W810_R4DB005_MAIN_HN.DVT and W810_R4DB005_FS_AMERICA2.DVT) with their newest client and selected the ENABLE AMR feature. The flashing process was ok but when i check the configuration it stills saying EFR FR and HR. I have lost 2 credits cos i first flashed the phone selecting only the advance options to enable the AMR feature and it works like if i was selected also the finalization option(enable AMR seems to drain one credit just like if you select the finalization option ) and when i turn on the phone i get "configuration error, please check with your....bla bla bla" and the second time i flashed the main file first and the FS at the end togheter with the finalization and advanced options to enable AMR (obviously i opened the advanced options button and select ENABLE AMR PATCH) and it works, now the phone is ok but its pretty much the same it was before i flash it (no AMR configuration . ![]() | well, i did the flash, selected flash files + AMR + finalization for my first run.. noticed amr did not go, so i reselected jus amr and finalization and it worked like a charm.. so i needed 2 credits to get the new f/w + AMR basically is what i'm sayin... ___ Quote:

(i believe i had to use 2 credits to get my phone flashed + enable AMR) i could be wrong tho, but i definetly do not see why not, myself had it on R4CK003 out of the factory, Rogers phones r R4CE012 f/w based.. so it does seem fine for older f/w. now, i'm using a W810i, but i dont forsee there being implications on other models... | |

![]() | Same as arcane613, just bought another credit (oh my, 20 euros ouch!!! . But i think 20 euro is quite expensive, i think the guys of davinci should specify the real cost for upgrading and enabling the AMR feature or maybe is a kind of bug of their newest client release?. Who knows....![]() |

![]() | The AMR feature is like a toggle setting. The latest flash files have it enabled, but advanced settings are done last. In arcane 613's case, he did this: "flash files + AMR + finalization". So what happened is that the flash files enabled it, but since he choose AMR in advanced, that disabled it. If you are flashing R4DBxxx, and you want AMR, do NOT enable the advanced option. If you just want to enable AMR on the firmware you have and are not flashing the phone, than you do use the AMR advnaced option. |

![]() | AMR can only be set when ONLY the advanced checkbox is checked. NOTHING ELSE. No FW, No Main, no Finalization. I've been trying to talk to GsMen about it but he's been very busy lately.. |

![]() | I'm new to ALL of this, so I'm confused about the procedure if i don't want to flash my phone (have R4CK003). Can i active AMR without flashing? If so, what are the steps and does it take a credit to do this? I didn't think you could do anything to the phone without hitting the Flash button. While I'm at it, i'll ask basic questions that my Searching hasn't helped out. Why are there 2 Americas FS files?! Which one do i use with my W810 if i have Cingular? Where can i find a list of improvements/changes associated with each Firmware? I have had reception issues with my W810 since day one, and SE says it's because the firmware for Cingular hasn't been tested yet. They say it's NOT the phone. Any takes on this? Thanks |

![]() | Before I unbranded my Vodafone W810i with R4CK003 EU3 the AMR setting was enabled in my phone. I read here I must not activate te AMR option in the client before flashing so I didn't do that. But after the flash the AMR setting was gone. ![]() I don't feel like to flash it again and waste another credit just to get AMR back. Any options to still get AMR setting on again? The debranding itself was perfect, so ofcourse thanks for that part already hehe. |

![]() | Hi, I flashed my W810i with client 16.3 to america2 (thanks zoyonee for the tips!!!). The flash procedure was fine, finished in 5:06min and my phone is working great! I finally got my phone with desired language. Keep the great work guys! Just one strange thing: I checked 'Finalization', 'Advanced' and 'AMR patch-Enable AMR' in advanced settings. But my phone still without AMR (only EFR FR HR at firmware info). It does really take 2 credits to make the procedure (one to flash and other to enable AMR)? Regards. |

![]() | Assuming you have a K750i - does this work with 810?... Do this (what you are looking for is in one of the menus that appear after the inputs): >*<<*<* >,< represent your joystick direction * represent the star button Don't worry about what's on the screen ; just do the inputs as shown. It'll get you there! Last edited by alzone; 14th July 2006 at 06:07.. |
