Hi all...

I've just heard of some software that by using the BT conecction between your phone and a pocket pc - you can make and receive calls on your phone via the ppc - ie. the ppc acts like a BT headset. hock:

There are 2 similar apps that provide this from what I gather - "Running Voice GSM" and "Phone King". Has anyone used either ?

I'm going to download the trial version of Phone King tonight and see how it goes - but if anyone else has used them can you please let us know.

Will keep you posted !

OK - I've tried the trial version of Applian's Phone King and here's what it can do:

- Place calls: you can use your contacts list to dial any number via your phone.
- Receive calls: ie while using your PPC if a call is recieved the call "rings" on your PPC. Useful if listening to music on your PPC so you can't hear your phone ringing in your bag

- Send text messages: Use your PPC to write a text message and send it via your phone.

And here's what it can't:

- Use the PPC/headphones like a headset and speak to people ! To speak to the person you are calling or to listen to a call received you actually have to pick up the phone or use a normal BT headset.

- You also have to ensure that the programme is running and that the phone and PPC are "paired" for it to work - if you use this constantly - then this would I assume be a huge drain on both batteries.

Overall:

- If you just want something to warn you that your phone is ringing - then it certainly does the job, and it certainly makes writing text messages a little easier - however as it doesn't actually transfer the call I'm not sure if it's worth the $20. I'm going to try it out for the rest of the 7 day trial period and see if it changes my mind !
