RSI: Error message 'Serious Error - Stop Charging'
This document is applicable for
All models
Description
Error Message:
If units return with the following error message displayed on the phone. The Service Center must issue a BOSS-errand trough Michael Giesen.
Following info need to be supplied :

1) model
2) imei number
3) production week
4) SW in the phone

Error message on the phone:

"Serious error. Stop charging. Stop using your phone and contact a Sony Ericsson call centre."

Collecting the returned unit:
Collect the returned unit together with battery, charger and phone accessories used at the time when the error message was displayed!

Swap the unit with and additional accessories to the customer.

The unit should be handled in accordance with the "Environmental Health and Safety issue" process. Please follow the existing process for "Environmental Health and Safety issue".

WCMS claiming
Claim the unit with FCC-escalation and place following text in the remark field for recognition.

"Serious error. Stop charging. Stop using your phone and contact a Sony Ericsson call centre"

Send the unit over to Brussel customer services centre.

Hi! Good day!
I have read your post and I want you to know that the stall where I bought my phone (sony ericsson at glorietta, Makati, Philippines) did not do anything about my phone. I am a full time employee and I really dont have time to go their stall everytime. I am receiving that same kind of erron in my SE W660i. They said it needs reformat, but when I was about to get my phone, the technician is saying different things already. He said that my phone's main board is semi bended already and that they can do nothing about it. I am planning to raise it to my cousin who is a lawyer but unfortunately we cant find time to see each other as of the moment. When I brought my phone to that useless stall, it was still covered by the warranty because a year is not yet over when i bought it. Another thing that really made me angry is that when i received my phone, there is already a crack (visible on the right side of it). I called them and they said that they'll see if they can do something about it. So all the way from my province, i went back to their stall and still... they said sorry but when they opened it the parts were already cracked inside. I dont want to have an argument with them anymore so i will just let my cousin do something about it. This is my first time using a SE phone, I am a loyal customer of Nokia. And i regret having SE as my unit now. With the service that they have, I made sure that my friends would not buy the same brand of phone and NO! NO! to their store in Glorietta.

I am looking for someone who can really help me on this. I can still have my phone opened now, its just it is not lasting. I was advised once to change the charging IC but up until now, I can find that part, Charging IC SE W660i.

Heh, these "mainboard semibended" things are standard service centres answer

i'll make sure of that. they always use that reason for almost all of their customer. So would you suggest me not to do anything about my phone first? or can i have someone to change the charging ic?
